The Dunhuang Asparas are a beautiful model of
art in Dunhuang frescoes. The image of Apsaras came from India. The Dunhuang
Apsaras was created while the grottoes were built. It has existed for more
than one thousand years. There are over 6000 Apsaras left. They are divided
into three periods.
 | The first one is the period of exchange
with the Western Regions and Central Plain style. The Western Region
Apsaras are simple and strong. The Central Plain are thin, natural and
unrestrained. |
 | The second period is the one of highly
developed Chinese style. They became women. |
 | During the third period of the old
Guashou and Shazhou Prefectures style, the Apsaras were less refined. |
